Children's Medical Group offers expanded hours to make it easier to get the care your child needs to stay healthy!

Monday - Friday

  • 7:15 AM - 8:30 AM Walk-in hours (no appointment necessary) for established patients, sick visits only
  • 8:30 AM - 8:00 PM Office visits scheduled by appointment
  • Telephones answered beginning at 7:30 AM
  • Lunchtime appointments available at both locations for sick visits and check-ups

Saturday and Sunday

  • 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Office visits scheduled by appointment
  • Telephones answered beginning at 7:00 AM

Many insurance companies require a written referral or prior authorization before seeing a specialist or having certain diagnostic procedures performed. Please see the referrals section of our site for more information. If your insurance requires a PCP, one of our providers must be listed in order for referrals to be completed.

 

When our office is closed, pediatric nurses from Children's Hospital in Birmingham, AL are available to return calls and offer advice regarding your child.

For medical emergencies, the physicians of Children's Medical Group recommend USA Children's and Women's Hospital. With a new, expanded children's wing including state-of-the-art equipment and pediatric subspecialists, it is the best place along the Gulf Coast if your child requires an emergency room visit or hospitalization. Although we do not have hospital privileges, we will work closely with the physicians there to make sure your child receives the best care.

Patients are expected to arrive on time or a few minutes early for their scheduled appointment time.  If you will be late, please call and let us know and we will try to accommodate you; however, this may require waiting until all other scheduled appointments have been seen.  If we are unable to accommodate you, we will reschedule your appointment.

Children's Medical Group will care for your child as a newborn and continue care through the last year of high school, including a pre-college physical.

School excuses are written for days deemed necessary by your physician.  We cannot write a school excuse if your child was not seen in our office for an appointment.  Excuses must be picked up from our office.

Children's Medical Group administers immunizations according to the guidelines approved by the American Academy of Pediatrics. For more information see our section on Immunizations.

Based on recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), Children's Medical Group uses Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ) and the Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers (M-CHAT).  Please see our page on Developmental Screening for more information.

Yes, but check with your insurance company regarding co-pays for well visits. All co-pays are due at the time of service.

Yes, please come 30 minutes early so we can establish a chart for your family.

Bring with you a valid photo ID, immunization records, social security numbers, and insurance card.  If you have records from another physician please bring these also.

If your insurance requires a PCP and one of our providers is not listed, your insurance company may deny any claims submitted and prevent us from obtaining referrals to specialists. When this occurs, you will be responsible for all charges.
